The EHR & privacy
The electronic health record (EHR) centralizes patient data, improves legibility and access, and supports safety through alerts. Nurses must protect data: use a unique login, never share passwords, log off when stepping away, and access only records they are caring for. Unauthorized access to records is a serious privacy (HIPAA) violation.
السجل الصحي الإلكتروني يوحّد بيانات المريض، ويحسّن الوضوح والوصول، ويدعم السلامة عبر التنبيهات. ويجب على الممرضين حماية البيانات: استخدام دخول فردي، وعدم مشاركة كلمات المرور أبدًا، وتسجيل الخروج عند الابتعاد، والوصول فقط لسجلات من يعتنون بهم. والوصول غير المصرّح للسجلات انتهاك خصوصية خطير.
Never share your login or password, and never access a record — even a family member's or a celebrity's — unless you are directly involved in that patient's care. 'Snooping' in records is a firing-level privacy violation regardless of intent.
لا تشارك دخولك أو كلمة مرورك أبدًا، ولا تصل لسجل — حتى لقريب أو مشهور — إلا إذا كنت مشاركًا مباشرةً في رعاية ذلك المريض. و'التطفّل' على السجلات انتهاك خصوصية يستوجب الفصل بغضّ النظر عن النية.
Clinical decision support
Clinical decision support tools (alerts, reminders, drug-interaction warnings) improve safety, but the nurse must use clinical judgment — do not blindly click through or ignore repeated alerts (alert fatigue). Technology supports, but does not replace, professional judgment.
أدوات دعم القرار السريري (التنبيهات، والتذكيرات، وتحذيرات تداخل الأدوية) تحسّن السلامة، لكن يجب أن يستخدم الممرض الحكم السريري — فلا تتجاوز التنبيهات بنقر أعمى ولا تتجاهل المتكرّرة (إجهاد التنبيهات). فالتقنية تدعم الحكم المهني ولا تحلّ محلّه.

A nurse is curious about a celebrity admitted to another unit and looks up their record. Is this acceptable?
